The Sony NGP was the code name for the companies next generation portable and yesterday, the company officially unveiled the device by its new branded name, the PS Vita. What we now know about this device is that it will be available in two different models, one which is WiFi only and the other which will have both WiFi and 3G network support.
Within the United States, it would appear that AT&T has been able to successfully negotiate an exclusive deal with Sony for the rights to sell the new game console. Although details are very sketchy at this time in terms of monthly fees and contract lengths, its pretty much a given that a mobile contract of some sort will be required to pick up the 3G model. We do know that the WiFi model will come with a $249.99 price tag while the WiFi/3G model will sell for $299.99. What is unclear is if the 3G model price is what gamers can expect when the device launches on AT&T or if the US mobile carrier will subsidize the pricing in any way.
In terms of the hardware configuration, the PS Vita features a 5″ multitouch OLED display. It also has a multitouch pad positioned on the rear surface of the device, a pair of cameras and two analog sticks.
