AT&T Navigator

US based communication giant AT&T recently released the latest turn-by-turn GPS system for their iPhone-based systems aptly named AT&T Navigator. Quick to follow the multi-million dollar market of the iPhone, AT&T’s GPS Navigator system features voice guide, 3D on-screen navigation with automatic rerouting in case of a missed turn and automatic map updates.

AT&T Navigator is compatible with the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS that uses iPhone software. The application is free to use with a $9.95 monthly subscription.

AT&T Navigator software also comes with a few special features that have users buzzing including software that allows for lowest gas price searches in the area, closest coffee shops and AT&T WiFi hotspots for their travels. Users can plan trips simply by plugging an address into the iPhone or downloading it from a Mac or PC. So far the reviews have been fairly positive on the new application.

Of course, with such a hot commodity like the iPhone, there is bound to be some competition. Recently, GPS device maker TomTom has created a car kit accessory that not only enhances the iPhone’s GPS signal but also charges the iPhone. Additional feature of the TomTom car kit includes a built in loud speaker for turn-by-turn directions as well as a microphone for hands-free communication. Although TomTom has yet to release a price or date on this new equipment, AT&T Navigator can expect to feel the sting.

AT&T Navigator software was developed by Telenav out of Sunnyvale, California and is exclusive to the US. The software can be found both online and in retail stores.
