With CES 2010 out of the way, the focus for the last little while now has been squarely placed upon the shoulders of Apple to see what they will do next. There have been countless rumors of a new Apple Tablet, iPhone 4G and an iPhone OS 4.0. It’s anticipated that these announcements amongst others will come this Wednesday at an Apple event that’s being billed as “come see our latest creation.”
Another rumor circulating is that Wednesday will also mark the day that AT&T will lose their exclusive iPhone agreement. This in itself could result in increased iPhone sales as there are many that have stayed away from the iPhone simply because of AT&T. In fact, there is one industry insider that believes that ending the AT&T contract could in fact double iPhone sales in the US.
Although the iPhone is a money maker for AT&T, all is not doom and gloom and AT&T could also benefit from this loss of exclusivity as well. AT&T networks are regularly overburdened by the high bandwidth needs of the iPhone which has resulted in AT&T customers complaining about dropped calls and poor service. Sharing the bandwidth load just might be welcomed and could possibly improve their corporate reputation again.
