In typical Apple fashion, the latest Snow Leopard OS update will drop all support for the Intel Atom processor. That means that everyone using Snow Leopard on an Atom “hackintosh” will have the horror of seeing their PC die after they update to version 10.6.2 — their netbooks simply instant-reboot, and then go no further than the gray Apple logo. Ouch.
This isn’t the first time Apple did a similar fix to prevent unauthorized third-parties from using their devices or software. Remember the Palm Pre and how it stubbornly kept syncing with iTunes? Apple was pretty clear about their policies every time they rolled out an update for iTunes, and it looks like the Mac netbook scene is the next battleground.
Of course, it’s likely that a good hacker will figure out a solution for anguished Atom hackintoshes in a few days, but let’s face it — it’s on. After a long time of ignoring the Mac netbook hobby-hacking community, Apple is finally putting its foot down on things.
Will Psystar be next? It sure looks that way.

Looks like the war is on with hackintosh! Looks like psystar is slowing down due to windows 7 out now, plus mac shutting down Intel Atom processor notebooks.
Maybe Macintosh will kill intel hackintosh desktop mothers systems next? Time will Tell…
