ATI Radeon HD 5970

ATI has just announced their latest and greatest video card called the Radeon HD 5970. The new card is described as the fastest card available on the market today and comes with 2 GPU (graphics processing units) for a combined 4.3 billion transistors. Working in tandem, the pair of Cypress GPU are able to deliver 5 TeraFLOPS of processing power or 10 TeraFLOPS when configured using CrossFireX. What’s more, the Overdrive technology included within the device offers the opportunity to boost performance even further through overclocking. With this much processing power, overheating becomes a factor and the 5970 compensates for this with it’s nearly foot long size that provides adequate heat dissipation.

The card is also the first to fully support Microsoft DirectX 11 technology and the multi-touch technology delivered through ATI Eyefinity. The card has been designed for gaming rigs, being able to handle the most graphic intense video games available. The ATI Radeon HD 5970 will retail as of today for $599.
