When purchasing a laptop, the usual items of consideration include processing speed, ram, hard drive size, dvd drive options, and weight. These are some of the gold standard items by which laptops are evaluated and compared and the ones that have the better options have always been the top sellers.
Asus is banking that in addition to these factors, consumers would like a choice of scent. With the Asus F6 notebook line, consumers in the market for a new laptop can select from one of four special edition physically attractive notebooks that emit a scent.
Choices of scents include Floral Blossom, Musky Black, Morning Dew, and Aqua Ocean. The names pretty much speak for themselves.
As mentioned, these are special edition notebooks, but Asus will certainly be watching the sales figures on these notebooks to see if they fly off the shelves. With consumers looking for originality and individuality, there very well could be a market for these notebooks.
The one thing I don’t see is if there is a way to turn these scents on/off. This could be an important consideration if you are in a public place and/or you are working around people with strong scent allergies.
