Asus Dual Screen Eee Book Reader

The Sunday Times, a UK newspaper, is reporting that Asus will be launching a dual screen e-book reader by the end of the year. The idea is not new, but something that Asus has been toying with for some time. Back in March of this year, the company unveiled a concept two screen ebook reader at the CeBIT trade show held in Hannover, Germany.

According to Jerry Shen, president of Asus, two versions of book reader will be released. One will be an entry level model designed for the price conscious consumer. Shen’s expectation is that this model will be the “world’s cheapest e-book reader.

A second model or premium edition will also be released. It’s believed this version will feature some high end features such as 3G connectivity, a web browser and expandable memory.

The low end model is expected to retail for about $160. This announcement can only mean good news for consumers and it brings more competition to the market that is dominated by the Amazon Kindle and the Sony Reader.
