At the 2008 National Hardware show, Viatek introduced one of their latest gadgets, the jar opener Lid Punch.
The principal behind this gadget is jars that have been vacuum sealed can be hard to open. With the Lid Punch, a hole is created in the lid of the jar to equilibrate the pressure, thereby making it easier to open the jar.
You may ask, what do you do with the hole that is now in the lid? Valid question. To answer this, they provide you with a series of magnets, one of which can be placed on the lid, thereby sealing in freshness and avoiding spillage.
