Google Chromium OS Archos 9

The final build of Google Chromium may not even be out yet but like many, UMPCPortal had an itch to test drive the new Google OS. Their solution was to install the browser based operating system on an Archos 9 tablet pc.

Hats off on being able to do this, it certainly allows for some bragging rights as being one of the few that have had a chance to see the OS. Outside of that, the new install was not without its limitations, the most notable of which was the need of a physical USB keyboard and mouse as the OS doesn’t support the touchscreen or have a virtual keyboard yet. Still, it’s always nice to be an early adopter of new technology so long as it’s not your primary machine.

If given a choice, would you use the Google OS over Microsoft Windows 7?
