Multitouch Magic Mouse

No self-respecting PC user would ever admit it, but some Apple products always make many of us throw sideways glances and wonder, even for a second, if going Mac would be worth it. One such product is Apple’s Multitouch Magic Mouse, a sleek wireless mouse that does away with buttons in favor of a plain white, touch-sensitive plastic shell.

The Multitouch Magic Mouse “reads” the user’s finger motions and very easily recognizes “left-click” and “right-click” motions. In addition, the Magic Mouse also has gestures that indicate scrolling (left-right, up-down, and even 360 degrees) and zooming. The $69 mouse has a wirelessly low profile, making it a snappy addition to any workspace.

Now, Windows XP and Vista users can finally see what it’s like to use the Magic Mouse. Apple has just released the necessary drivers to make the Magic Mouse work on the said operating systems. The drivers will be made available through Apple’s Bluetooth Update for Windows.

It may not be the best kind of mouse for a power user (or someone who’s already gotten used to OpenOffice’s mouse, for instance), but for the rest of us, it should be enough to give us a taste of what it’s like to be a Mac.
