This can’t be anything but amazing for the bottom line for Samsung as the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple is set to become Samsung’s biggest customer as it prepares to buy nearly $7.8 billion in component parts.
From the looks of it, most of these parts will be used to build two of Apple’s more popular gadgets including the iPhone and the iPad and in terms of parts, Apple will be buying NAND flash memory, LCD display screens and mobile processors. For Apple to try and make an effort to secure supplies of NAND flash memory seems to make a lot of sense as Apple has had trouble finding the components to build the iPhone as demand for their popular smartphone has been growing month over month. It’s not just Samsung that has had trouble keeping up with the needs of Apple as Hynix, the number three memory maker in 2009 has also found challenges in meeting Apple’s increasing orders. In fact, Apple has such a need for NAND chips that it was believed that at some point, Samsung put aside its entire inventory of NAND chips just for Apple products.
