With Apple shares continuing to tumble, the Cupertino company is looking for the next big thing. Apple TV is said to be a revolutionary product, but the launch of this device has been pushed back quite a few times now.
So, until Apple TV does finally come on the scene, Apple is going to be looking for other products with which it can generate revenue. One of them is the iWatch which is now slated to be released this year. The project is being headed by Jony Ive and his team of 100 engineers. Ive is believed to have purchased “boxes” of Nike Sports watches many years back and these were used as study material for the upcoming iWatch. In this regards, it will be interesting to see if there are any similarities between the two devices.
Previously, it was believed that the iWatch would be very similar to the Nano in terms of the operating system, but the most current information seems to point to Apple working on an iOS software upgrade that will be compatible with the timepiece. Right now, one of the biggest challenges that Apple is facing is the life of the battery. Apple wants a battery life that has an uptime of 4-5 days but their prototype currently has an uptime of 2 days.
