For many industry insiders, it was pretty clear that the name of the new Apple Tablet PC was going to be the iSlate, at least that’s where the evidence was pointing towards. It looks like another name as risen as a viable option for the yet unnamed tablet. The new rumor is the tablet may in fact be called the iGuide.
In this case, a trademark registration was performed under the Delaware-based iGuide Media, LLC, the sole purpose of which appears to secure the trademark “iGuide” on behalf of Apple Inc. Confirming this was Apple’s Senior Trademark Specialist Regina Porter’s signatures on the application which further connected the Delaware company to Apple Inc.
Apple is keeping their options open and for those that don’t like the name iSlate because it sounds more like “is late”, there is now another possible name. I guess time will tell if Apple will select one of these two names or throw us all for a loop and select something completely different.
