Apple iPhone Streetfighter IV Details Revealed

Apple iPhone Streetfighter IV Details Revealed

Last week, we got word that video game developer and publisher Capcom was looking to bring their highly popular fighting game Street Fighter IV to the Apple iPhone/iPod Touch. At the time, few details were available and the full fighter roster was also not known.

Today, GamePro has acquired a copy of Street Fighter IV for Apple devices and with it comes new information. Unlike last week when we only knew that that Ryu and Ken were included in the Apple version, we now know that the mobile version of this game will include a total of 8 fighters, down from the 17 characters available in the console game (PS3, Xbox). The 8 available characters include Ryu, Ken, M. Bison, Guile, Chun-Li, Blanka, Dhalsim and Abel.

There is also a short video demonstration of the playability of this video game on an Apple device and from the good quality graphics, it does look impressive. Capcom may have had to push the iPhone hardware to the limits in order to achieve this level of quality which would affect battery performance, but regardless, this is a cool video game and if you’re a fan of these games, then the give and take will probably be worth it.

As we mentioned last week, the biggest challenge ahead for this video game may be usability due to the touchscreen controls which may not be a good replacement for the button controls and D-Pad.

In either case, the game will be available through the Apple app store in March for $9.99.
