Apple iPhone 6 Will Have A New Charging Option?

by Mike on July 9, 2011

We may still be playing around with the fourth generation iPhone, waiting for the iPhone 5, but rumors about the iPhone 6 have begun to stream out. It’s generally believed that Apple will unveil their iPhone 5 later this year and most likely in September.

When the new device comes out, the fifth in this series is expected to debut with a lighter and thinner form factor as well as sport an 8MP camera. It’s also believed that we will see Apple make the push to have 25 million devices manufactured and ready for the market before the end of the year, though there may be some flexibility in this because apparently the iPhone 5 is a bit “difficult” to make.

Much of this information has been made available through the Wall Street Journal and in their report, they also go on to offer a small glimpse into the iPhone 6 and it is their belief through information that they have received from Apple insiders, that Cupertino is exploring entirely “new ways of charging” the iPhone.

There are very few details about what is being considered but there are a number of charging options available to Apple. In patents that the company has filed, we see that Apple has looked at a new iPod dock that would have inductive coil so is non contact induction charging on the way? Lets also not forget about Apple and their Thunderbolt ports and this could also be an option for iPhone 6 charging.
