More news is coming out of the Digitimes, that would indicate that Apple is getting ready to launch the next generation iPhone in September. Based upon the information available, it is being reported that Apple is dropping its volume of iPhone 4 shipments for Q2. Initially, Cupertino was to have ordered 20 million smartphones, but this now now been lowered by approximately 2 million making the new shipments to be approximately 17.5-18 million devices. The shipment breakdown is further broken down to 16 million 3G models and another 1.5-2 million CDMA models.
It’s believed that when the next Apple iPhone launches in September, it will do so with an 8MP camera that has been manufactured by Largan Precision and OmniVision. The “iPhone 4S” which is expected to go into production in early August does coincide with the July time frame that was reported earlier by Reuters. In addition to the improved camera sensor, the new model will also have a dual core A5 processor and will likely come standard with support for both Sprint and T-Mobile. It’s very unlikely that Apple will tinker with the successful form factor of their iPhone line up but there is understandably some conflicting information with some reports indicating that LTE will not be available until next year.
