Apple iOS Patch Fixes PDF Vulnerability

The game of cat and mouse continues as Apple has just released a pair of iOS patches to fix an Adobe PDF vulnerability. iPhone/iPod and iPad users that connect to iTunes will be greeted with a prompt requesting that they update their device to iOS 4.0.2 and iOS 3.2.2 respectively.

The new security updates provide a bug fix which prevents malicious code to run when a mobile user visited a website with Adobe PDF files. This flaw is what the iPhone dev team used on the jailbreakme.com website in order to jailbreak both the iPhone and the iPad. The update is about 378MB in size and is available for download now.

Those that don’t have a jailbroken device and have no interest in ever performing this action may want to update to the latest iOS version. However, if you have a device that has been jailbroken, the iPhone dev team is urging you not to update until they can find a workaround.
