Today, Apple [AAPL] spoke about their new operating system that is being readied for deployment in the November timeframe. The latest version iOS will be 4.2 and one of the new features that it will bring to the table is printing for the iPad, Apple’s tablet device.
The process of printing appears very intuitive as you would only open up your application like Pages, and from the drop down menu would be a print option. Once you’ve selected this option, you can then choose between your installed printers and also choose how many copies to print off.
If you like to keep track of your pending jobs, a status icon within the multitasking dock will be visible and can provide you with this information once you click on it as it will open up a window that will display the pending jobs. The actual process of printing was not very clear from todays demonstration, but it does appear that you will be able to print over a wireless connection to a wireless printer or through a laptop/desktop which will act as an intermediate device.

How about printing as a pdf and emailing ? any news there ? I would say that would cover a larger need than actually printing on paper.
Also will other apps. like Filemaker Go be able to print ? or just iworks ?
