We all know that Apple has been in a pickle with their Maps app and as such the company is looking for some immediate help to address the outstanding issues. Google has a mature app in their Maps software with experienced developers supporting it.
As such, Apple is looking to draw on this pool of experience with reports now coming out that Apple is actively seeking people that either are or were Google contract employees. According to sources, Apple is specifically looking for contracted employees rather then permanent staff and are offering an initial salary offer of $85,000 plus moving expenses as the jobs are located on the east coast.
It appears Apple has received considerable interest in these new positions, not just because of the salary being offered, but also because Google Maps is quite stable and requires just a little maintenance whereas Apple’s Maps is still in development and will need a lot of work. Seeing as how Apple’s Map app is also now in production, there is a real sense of urgency to try and resolve these issues as quickly as possible so as to try and eliminate some of the frustration that is being experienced by their customer base.
