Poll a group of Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) users as to what new features they would like to see on Apple devices be it the Apple iPhone or the upcoming iPad tablet and you’re likely to get a new feature list as long as a shopping list. Probably one of the more popular requests would be video chat and conferencing capabilities and it’s more then likely Apple executives would share the same sentiments as this feature would simply enhance the value of the Apple brand.
Nothing is confirmed through Cupertino but coders have discovered some juicy information that eludes to the possibility of video support for future iPhones and iPads. Looking through the SDK, it’s been discovered that there are a series of icons that reference video calling on an iPxx device. The icons appear to accept video chat and decline/end video chat.

Additionally, delve deeper into the source code of the telephony UI application and again there are video chat strings present. It’s more then likely chat functions will appear on Apple devices down the road, but this means front facing digital cameras will be required.
You have to wonder how AT&T’s 3G network will manage with the strain of even more network traffic and bandwidth use that will come with video chat and just how much this extra load would degrade their 3G service.
