While the iPhone is still arguably the most popular smartphone on the market today, it isn’t perfect. Case in point – the latest update to the iPhone OS. Users who upgraded to the iPhone OS 3.1 have been reporting several problems, the most common of which was drastically shortened battery life. Thankfully, the guys at Apple are on the case.
According to TheiPhoneBlog, Apple has been contacting users who have logged battery life-related complaints, asking questions and issuing a troubleshooting profile that logs battery life on iPhones. The cause for the shortened battery lives isn’t known yet, but the common culprits are suspected: Wi-Fi, push e-mail, Bluetooth and certain Apps.
It wasn’t long after the iPhone OS 3.1 became available that reports of iPhones dying before noon, acting strangely with certain Apps, and even bricking surfaced. It was apparent users weren’t suffering isolated cases and it’s a good thing Apple was quick to act on the matter.
We expect to get clear answers (and solutions) from Apple soon, but it’s unlikely Apple is going to show any mercy for jailbroken iPhones.
