The Amazon Kindle DX is officially unavailable through Amazon. Recently, we saw the electronics giant slash prices on the Kindle DX but since then, the company has made the decision to no longer continue selling it.
As such, if you go to the Amazon website and perform a search on Kindle products, you will not longer see the Kindle DX listed next to the other devices within this class of tablets. Still however, the DX is not entirely gone. If for some reason, someone really, really wants one, they can still buy one through one of many third party sellers, but as their supplies dwindle, I’m sure this will be the end of this device.
Phasing out the Kindle DX is the natural progression of the lifecycle of any product. We first saw the 9.7-inch device come on the scene approximately two years ago and today, many of the features on the DX would be considered stale in comparison to newer Kindle products. By eliminating the Kindle DX, Amazon can now focus more of their attention on other, newer Kindle products. As of now, if you are in search of a big screen Kindle tablet, the largest that the company sells is the Kindle Fire HD which has an 8.9-inch display screen.
