Fans of the National Football League that watched last nights game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants may have got a sneak peak as to some of the new products that Amazon Inc. is planning to launch. During the game yesterday, Amazon ran a one minute ad and within this commercial, viewers got a quick glimpse of some of the new products that are going to debut.
It would appear that Amazon is planning on launching two new tablets, one will be a backlit E Ink Kindle reader while the other will be a tablet with a bigger display screen. Both of these devices have been rumoured for quite a while now. The Kindle Fire 2 will be the upgrade to the highly popular Kindle Fire that saw strong sales last Christmas while the bigger screen tablet will be Amazon’s response to the the new iPad. In terms of the official announcement of these devices, customers won’t have to wait that much longer as Amazon will be holding a media event within LA, California today during which time both of these devices will be unveiled.
In addition to these two devices, there are also rumours that Amazon may just surprise the media with the announcement of a new smartphone that will run on a customized version of the Google Android operating system. If this is correct, it is unlikely that a final version of the smartphone will be revealed, but rather a prototype along with some details as to just when customers can buy it. If Amazon remains true to their vision, it’s very likely that Amazon will sell this smartphone at a low cost with the hopes of making up revenue on the back end through their app market.
