Amazon Instant Video iPad App

The electronics retailer, Amazon Inc., has come out with a new iPad known as Instant Video. This mobile app integrates with Amazon’s service and allows customers to have access to selected titles from Prime Instant Video which is located in the Prime subscription catalog.

Along with the ability to stream Amazon’s video content directly onto your Apple tablet, customers will also have the option to download material which they can then watch at a later time. In addition to this, there are a few other features that the new app offers including the ability to establish queues and watchlists and the option to view Season Pass TV shows twenty four hours post broadcast. Other features include the ability to pause and play video at any point even if the video was originally viewed on Amazon’s Kindle tablet, an Xbox 360, Mac, Playstation 3, PC or for that matter, any other supported device.

At this time, the Amazon app is only available for the iPad, taking advantage of the bigger screen size, but it does appear that the company may port the app over to the iPhone as well. It’s interesting to see Amazon come out with this app, especially at this time. In some ways, the app is very similar to Hulu Plus which is now available on Apple TV and this may be a matter of keeping up with the competition.
