For the average PC user, a strict regiment of regular data backups is really all that is needed to protect yourself from data loss that could occur through a computer crash.
In the business world, there are times when cloning a hard drive is necessary and for these cases, Aleratec has announced their new HDD Copy Cruiser Mini which functions as both a hard drive duplicator as well as a docking station. For disk cloning, this unit creates exact 1:1 copies and works with 2.5” or 3.5” SATA I and II hard disk drive. In this mode of operation, copy speeds can reach up to 72MB/sec and since this is an exact copy of the original source, every sector is copied including all of the disk partitions as well as the boot sector.
When not being used for disk copy, the unit can also double as a USB 2.0 connected docking station offering additional external storage space.
The Aleratec unit will retail for $169.99.
