Adobe Hearts Apple In New Advertising Campaign

Adobe Hearts Apple In New Advertising Campaign

Adobe has launched a new ad campaign on Engadget which clearly takes aim at Apple over their anti-flash stance. The first ad reads “We [Heart] Apple” which just has to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling and perhaps a thought that the feuding companies have found a mutually agreeable resolution to this issue.

However, this is followed by the next image which reads:

What we don’t love is anybody taking away your freedom to choose what you create, how you create it and what you experience on the web.

Clearly the feud is still on. Along with these ads, Adobe has taken out a full page ad on the Washington Post that outlines their position on this issue.

We believe that consumers should be able to freely access their favorite content and applications, regardless of what computer they have, what browser they like, or what device suits their needs. No company – no matter how big or how creative – should dictate what you can create, how you create it, or what you can experience on the web.

When markets are open, anyone with a great idea has a chance to drive innovation and find new customers. Adobe’s business philosophy is based on a premise that, in an open market, the best products will win in the end – and the best way to compete is to create the best technology and innovate faster than your competitors.

We believe that Apple, by taking the opposite approach, has taken a step that could undermine this next chapter of the web – the chapter in which mobile devices outnumber computers, any individual can be a publisher, and content is accessed anywhere and at any time.

In the end, we believe the question is really this: Who controls the World Wide Web? And we believe the answer is: nobody – and everybody, but certainly not a single company.

Most of what is presented in this open letter are things that we’ve heard before in this ongoing saga but by reaching out to the print media, they will be able to present their message to a new audience.

Adobe may have a good relationship with Google with flash support to be included in the Android OS but it is important that they resolve this matter with Apple for their own success.

Uh, I think you got it wrong there Tonto….Apple needs to resolve this matter for THEIR own success. Take a look at the list of blue-chip toes Apple has stepped on with their forget-the-rest business model: Adobe, Microsoft, Amazon, Google – (and with it, many open source developers), and Nintendo, just to name a few…and these guys are starting to form alliances as a result. Do you think there’s enough birkenstock-wearing, graphic-designing leftists out there to fund the survival of a company with this many enemies until it swallows its own pride? The answer is: ‘no’

They both got to fix this. Lots of blue chip Microsoft haters out joined forces to bring down Microsoft but they live. They probably won’t be able to bring down Apple either.
