Cherrypal Africa Netbook

Cherrypal, the company that unveiled their greenest desktop computer last year are back again, this time with a very cheap netbook computer. Called the Cherrypal Africa, this netbook will retail for just $99.

The mini netbook computer comes with a 400 MHz processor, 7-inch screen display, 256MB RAM, 2GB flash memory and can run using either Windows CE or the open source Linux operating system.

According to Max Seybold, Cherrypal’s founder, the new netbook is meant to reduce the ‘digital divide’ between the have and the have nots. As such, although the device may not be something that could be used for high powered graphic design work, it could certainly be used for basic internet functions such as reading email and surfing the net. A netbook such as this would be a welcomed piece of technology in developing countries.

Cherrypal Africa is currently available for purchase through the company website.
