There is a lot of interest to see just how Apple will respond to the wide variety of smaller screen tablets that have arrived on the market. Originally, the Cupertino company had said that these devices addressed a market niche that was different from theirs, but in recent weeks, there have been volumes of information that seem to contradict their public comments.
In fact, it seems like the launch of an iPad mini is all but a given with analysts just waiting for the announcement to be made official by the company. The idea of an iPad mini gained additional steam recently when emails came to light from Apple executives that described smaller screen tablets as a market that they need to enter. Along with this, new images have come to light that show the shell of one of these reported iPad mini tablets. The images came by way of the Chinese website Sina Weibo and although there is no way to verify the authenticity of these images, they do paint an intriguing picture of what may just be announced next month. One of the things to note in this picture is an absence of any holes that could be used by a rear facing camera. Could this mean that the iPad mini will not have one so as to be able to cut down on its manufacturing costs? Although we don’t have an official answer on this, the notion behind this doesn’t seem far fetched, especially when you consider the Nexus 7 doesn’t have one either.
