In about a month’s time from now, Windows 7 officially launches. If you plan to buy the new operating system and are a student, you may be in for a good deal courtesy of Microsoft as they are offering college students an upgrade version of either Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional for the discount price of $29.99.
Of course, like all promotional offers, this one is for a limited time and has a bit of fine print that you need to be aware of. The new deal will be available from now until January 3, 2010 and to be eligible, you must be a student enrolled in a center for higher learning with an .edu email address.
Once you’ve bought the OS, you will be able to download the software through Digital River on October 22nd. Students will also have the choice of purchasing optional backup DVDs of their new product.
Full details of the offer are available through Microsoft’s special website win741.com. Microsoft plans to have similar deals for students in other parts of the world including Canada, Germany, UK, Australia, France, Korea and Mexico. More details to follow.
