Last March’s Geneva Auto Show introduced us to Lotus’s Exige S line, and it seems that the 240S will be available to car lovers in the US very soon. Here’s the lowdown on the 2010 Lotus Exige S240 in case you’re looking for the toy to buy next year.
Next year’s S240 gets a few upgrades outside and in. If you’ve been following the S series, you’ll notice the S240’s new nose job and a considerably larger rear wing. The nose have revised inlets that feed air into the oil coolers and radiators, helping keep things cool under the hood. The rear wing is 7 inches longer and almost three inches higher. It still offers 93 pounds of downforce at speeds around 100 miles per hour, but reduces drag better than its 2009 incarnation.
Inside, a 1.8L Toyota engine lends some 240-hp at 8000 rpm, with 170 foot-pounds of torque at 5500 rpm. This kind of power can send the Exige from zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds, or so the guys at Lotus say. It’ll go on to 100 miles per hour in another 6 seconds, with a top speed of 150 miles per hour.
Another great thing about the Exige S240 is that despite this kind of power and good looks, it’ll give you 26 miles per gallon on the highway (20 in town). If you’re interested, be ready to shell out around $65,690 to make this little baby yours.
